Victoria Beckham defends skinny models

Following her fourth and very successful collection at New York Fashion Week,
Victoria Beckham has weighed in on the size debate.
Her position? Defending skinny models.

“Most of these girls are naturally thin,”says Victoria, who is often criticised about her own weight.

“And I don’t think we should be discriminating against

someone because they are too thin or too curvy or too

large or whatever it is.”

Speaking to US TV show The View, Victoria added,“the campaign the CFDA

has launched is called ‘Health is Beauty’and they are definitely

encouraging designers to work with healthier sized models.

Perhaps it will encourage Ms.Beckham to eat something.

A-listers are paid to sit front row: rates revealed

With Fashion Week around the corner our attention,as always, turns to who we’re likely spot sitting suitably stylish in the coveted front row seats. But whilst most fashion fans would give their right leg to bag a spot, these A-listers are getting paid. You see, publicity and copious freebies aren’t enough for the fashion elite – they charge big bucks to appear front row at designers’ shows. And just how much they charge depends on their status and fashion credibility. to make an appearance.
Hitting the top of the list is Rihanna, who charges an almighty $100,000 just for turning up, closely followed by the trendy Olsen twins who can pocket $80,000 each.
Someone on the down-right embarrassing end of the scale, however, is Lindsay Lohan who – since her controversial last year in fashion – has gone from getting $60,000 to being altogether uninvited. Ouch.

SJP on set in Brian Atwood!

We love a bit of Sex and the City fashion news.First we saw the girls on set in their 80s gear - which was funny, if a little bit scary - and now we get to see Carrie tottering around in a pair of Brian Atwood Loca shoes from his Resort 2010 collection
The ex-model began designing footwear for Versace in 1996 before branching out and starting his own brand in 2001.
These shoes have caused quite a stir since being spotted on Sarah Jessica Parker and rightly so.The round toe platform pumps are made from pastel blue suede and gold studs, while the sides are lucite.Teamed here with her Chanel tote and laid-back attire, Carrie’s ensemble looks effortlessly chic. We credit the shoes !

And I would love to develop it now,” said Claudia

AW 09 Trends: Velvet

Modernist designers such as Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein and Christopher Kane revitalised the fabric with glossy colour, clever splicing, and by reviving the age-old dévoré treatment, whereby acid is poured onto areas of cloth creating a sheer, pretty burnt out pattern to create strong stripes and graphics. The most arresting looks came courtesy of Christopher Kane, who presented a series of organza shifts appliqued with jewel-coloured velvet ribbons, set in horizontal and vertical stripes. Kane partnered them with bare legs and brogues – consider that your styling cue.

AW09 Trends: Tweed

Yes, it’s time to think tweedy,
for this season the British country classic gets a slick urban update; tweed has become sexy, smart and tailored. Oh, and practical too. From Vivienne Westwood to Burberry Prorsum, and Gucci to Karl Lagerfeld.
It comes speckled, checked and textured this autumn.
The look is such a refreshing change from the high-octane glitz and glamour dominating this season’s runways.

Body Con

As we are all by now well aware, the eighties made a colossal comeback on the catwalks for spring/summer 09. But it is one microtrend in particular that captured the hearts of the fashion flock and A-listers alike. Yes, you guessed it: Body con. Short for “body conscious”, this refers to clothing that does exactly what it says on the tin: anything from skintight mini-dresses and mini-skirts, to tight high-waisted leggings and trousers and basically any other garment that makes you, as the name suggests, very conscious of your body - conscious in the sense that you may have missed those body pump gym classes and well now can’t quite eat lunch without busting a seam.
